There's a liquor store on Hayes Street where a 10-year old girl and her little brother make the most amazing paintings on little blocks of wood and sell them for $5. I picked one up for myself - a donkey playing soccer. There are crude speech bubbles above the donkey and the soccer ball.
Donkey: GOOOAALLLL
Soccer Ball: Yeah Right

Had brunch with Patty, Jesse and Daniel at Flippers. Did you know they serve brunch? It's not that good, but they have a pretty sweet courtyard and the food is pretty cheap. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Erin texted and said Papercuts were playing a free show at Amoeba. They sounded amazing, and I picked up the last record on vin-yul and got a free poster. I think I'm too old to have band posters up on my wall (except for my omg totally limited edition screen-printed Orange Juice Poster), but it was a win anyway.

After Amoeba, Erin and I wandered around Haight Street. Upon exiting Wasteland, we were greeted with the sight of 25 or so nude middle-aged men bicycle riding for peace, their soggy old sacs swaying in the breeze. Some of them had half-ons and it made us feel weird to our very cores.

But hey, if this ends a war somewhere I guess my eyes burning for a few short seconds is a small price to pay.

We went to Piedmont, a drag queen/stripper/raver store, and I bought some amazing earrings. I was tempted to buy these rhinestone pins as well, but they were $25!!

Although, the "OH SHIT" one might actually be worth the money.

Later I went home and admired my new purchases. New records always make me super happy. (Um come see me play them at Casanova this Wednesday night with cutie pie Michael Aguilar. End plug.)

New (used) shoes from Wasteland! They're dEzInEr!!!1
SUNDAY

Went to brunch at Andalu, which gets worse every time I eat there. Walked to Jessica's house to help her load her drums into her station wagon so we could take them to our AWESOME BAND'S practice space. Spotted this on a telephone pole. It reads "Her stove, and put out her food in tins."

Outside a liquor store on 23rd St. For some reason this made me happy.

I teased Jessica about her bumper sticker.

There were a couple of old copies of Seattle alternative weekly "The Stranger" in the practice space. The back cover featured this call for people with ass herpes.

We wrote a new song! It sounds like this:
Oops, kinda lost steam after a minute.

Had dinner with Jessica and Sean after practice at We Be Sushi. (The good one near 22nd, not the gross one near 16th). The artwork on the bathroom walls is kind of mind-blowing.

Finally hooked up my turntable and listened to the Beets record I bought at Aquarius. It's ok.
Capped off an awesome weekend by watching "Coming To America." Success!!!
