lazy sunday

i slept on an inflatable mattess last night, in the the den of a doctor i have never met.

jessica foft and i have been housesitting at this amazing bungalow in diamond heights all week. it's a three level house with this like, enchanted garden in the back. the owners of the house are a horror sci-fi author/doctor and a prominent wiccan. i've been having some 'issues' in my current home, so it's been so awesome to get off work and get picked up by foft in the doctor's Big Red Truck and hang out in the kitchen while she makes me soup and grilled cheeses. after that, we watch 90210 and fall asleep on the couch at 11:30 like old people. i even have my own little room - it's so much quieter than the warzone i hear outside my own lower-haight window, so i pretty much pass out immediately as soon as my head hits the pillow.

last night, after a berkeley record-shopping excursion with tim and nako (i bought the first finches ep - sooo good), nakz dropped me off at the slumber party foft was hosting in our pleasant little (temporary) abode. i walked up the stairs and found 8 women seated around the dining room table, all with scattergories scoresheets in front of them, along with plates of pasta and glasses of wine. what followed was an epic scattergories marathon that seemed to go on four hours, but probably was closer to 90 minutes. scattergories is my jam, so i'm happy to report that i tanned everyone's hides at it. (things found at a wedding starting with 'w' - uhhh...weddings?') afterwards we crammed into the tiny living room to watch the lost boys..as to be expected, i dozed off halfway through. since lauren spiro was occupying the room i'd been sleeping in for the week, i made myself a makeshift nest in the front office.

i awoke this morning to the sounds of chattering ladies and clinking dishes coming from the kitchen, and a big grin spread across my face. when i went out to investigate, foft was making everyone coffee, eggs and bacon waffles. i ate the fuck out of those things; they were so delicious. six more rounds of scattergories followed while the movie 'private lessons' played in the background. 80's teen sex romps are pretty much the best slumber party morning after viewing material. i felt like i'd had such a full day by 3:00 that i didn't really need to leave the house once foft dropped me off. it's been pretty cold and grey outside all day, so i've been catching up on vice mag do's and don'ts and watching vh1 in bed.

lazy sundays are pretty much the best days, especially when fuelled by bacon waffles. ooh! rock of love is on. my day just got even sweeter.
